Parnell Hall Signing in the Waldenbooks

This is really good:

There's a blurb from Parnell Hall on the back of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (Canadian hardcover). When I found out that he had agreed to read the book I was thrilled. I had just finished reading his novel Hitman and liked it a lot. It's one of his private eye novels, not one of his "puzzle mysteries," which I haven't read yet.

So, when I saw the video above I laughed and cried. Mostly I cried. Then I laughed.

Oh--I've been in that seat!

Take heart, John.

Parnell and I just did a signing along with several other authors who have stories in the anthology, Crimes by Moonlight, and he was a very popular guy. Everyone was shoving books at him. He may have to make a new video.

Have you heard the one in which he enumerates the many different murder methods? The first time I went to Left Coast Crime, he sang both of them at the talent show. The rest of the acts weren't so hot, but I actually bought a tape of it just so I could get those two songs.

If it makes you feel any better. I went to book signing for Iain M. Banks almost ten years ago. He'd just been voted one of the 10 best authors of the millennium, 5th, behind Shakespeare, Austen, Orwell and Dickens. There were three of us there :-( Four if you include Iain!
