Tumblin' Dice

Apparently the ARCs of my new novel, Tumblin' Dice, are going out this week. The official publishing date is March 2012.

I've asked the publisher if we could have some kind of promotion, maybe price the e-books of my previous novels at $2.99 or maybe give away a free e-book of one of the previous novels with the purchase of Tumblin' Dice.

What do you think?

Congratulations, John!

I like both ideas, but the $2.99 ebooks may serve to prime the pump for new readers better than a free book if they buy the new one. They're thinking could be, if I don't like the book I buy, why would I want a free one?

On the other hand, dropping three bucks to try something new is not a hard decision.

Patti's comment is nice and I don't want to sound uncongratulatory or anything, but, frankly, it's about time. It's been two years since SWAP/LET IT RIDE came out. I've been jonesing, man. Bring it on.

I think Dana's right, but I would just offer it for the low price as an opportunity for a limited window of time.

Congratulations. I've actually got one of yours here to read and that should tide me over for awhile.

Thanks, folks. I'll push the low price, see what they say.

And yeah, Dana, I'm not too happy about the gap between books and I'm going to try and make sure that doesn't happen again.

Excellent news. Just moved to the top of my list, as soon as it comes out.

As a former craps degenerate (and a brother Bills fan), how can I worry about price?

It's a weird new world (publishing) ... but I think the lower price is a big plus as far as finding new readers and once that happens, you'll have followers (because you're that good).

Was that Charlie (Watts) on the Gretsch kit? It looked like he had blonde hair there (or maybe it was the lighting).

John, I've snapped up four of Charlie Stella's early novels in e-book versions for around $3. When I'm done with them, I'll probably buy his new book at the regular price. Seems like a fine promotional tool to me.

Yeah, Peter, I love Charlie Stella's books. Johnny Porno is maybe my favourite, but they're all good. I'm looking forward to the North Dakota book.

I've got a real Stella Jones these days. I started with Charlie Opera, finished Eddie's World last night and am reading Jimmy Bench-Press now. And I thought of you while reading his stuff. It reminded me of yours.

That's why I think the $2.99 e-books could work for you. It did for me with Charlie Stella. I'll surely buy Johnny Porno when I'm done with the earlier books.
